Flagstaff’s Efforts to Combat Food Insecurity

Flagstaff has launched a comprehensive two-month food and supplies drive aimed at aiding those in need. Sarah Langley from the city highlighted that donations can be made at various city facilities, including city hall and recreation centers. The Flagstaff Family Food Center will be responsible for distributing the collected food.

“We’re hearing from nonprofits in Flagstaff that this year they are experiencing really increased demand. The Flagstaff Family Food Center announced that they served over 50,000 meals in October,” Langley said.

Phoenix Joins the Initiative

Phoenix is also contributing to the statewide effort by launching a food drive in collaboration with St. Mary’s Food Bank. City representatives emphasize the importance of monetary donations while encouraging residents to drop off food items at designated libraries and community centers.

“The foods in most demand include proteins like canned meats and beans, peanut butter and canned fruits and vegetables,” according to a Phoenix press release.
