The University of Michigan is initiating a nationwide search for the new chancellor of UM-Dearborn. This significant leadership transition aims to align with the university’s strategic GoBLUEprint for Success. President Domenico Grasso has appointed a search advisory committee, co-chaired by Laurence Alexander, the chancellor for UM-Flint, and Ghassan Kridli, interim provost at UM-Dearborn, to guide this process. The university expects to find a leader who will continue to drive progress in Dearborn.
The search aims to fill the vacancy left by Grasso, who served over seven years as chancellor before becoming interim president last May. Grasso plans to retire after his interim role, with Gabriella Scarlatta currently as interim chancellor. The search process will commence this month with campus town halls from Nov. 17-19, allowing community engagement in shaping the future leadership.
The advisory committee will gather insights from various groups to define key attributes and focus areas for the new chancellor. Suggestions and nominations can be emailed to UM.Dearborn.Chancellor.Feedback@umich.edu. For more details, visit the chancellor search web page.
Russell Reynolds Associates, a renowned executive search firm, will assist in the confidential selection process, with consultants Jett Pihakis, Joi Hayes-Scott, and Zach Messitte leading the effort. Keisha Blevins, serving as the president’s liaison, will facilitate the search operations.
