Great Falls is experiencing a significant economic boom, celebrated by local, state, and federal officials. On Friday, they marked the arrival of two major businesses in Cascade County. Gov. Greg Gianforte, U.S. Rep. Troy Downing, and Mayor Cory Reeves highlighted a new Amazon delivery facility and a groundbreaking for Janicki Industries’ massive complex at AgriTech Park.
With an investment of $7 million, Amazon’s Great Falls facility spans 35,000 square feet and creates 50 full-time positions alongside flexible part-time driver roles. This “last mile” facility serves not only Great Falls but also surrounding communities, contributing to Amazon’s $200 million investment in Montana since 2010. Sarah Rose, Amazon’s VP of Global Health and Safety, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality jobs in Montana.
The broader economic impact was a key focus, with leaders noting the influence of missile upgrades, new industries, and a booming housing market in Great Falls. U.S. Rep. Troy Downing praised the diversification provided by new sectors, including the military presence at Malmstrom, as crucial for regional stability and growth.
Janicki Industries’ $800 million aerospace investment promises over 2,000 jobs and 1.6 million square feet of production space on 180 acres. The company, specializing in composite and metallic tooling and structures, chose Great Falls partly due to the community’s readiness and favorable regulatory environment. Peter Janicki, CEO, aims to make the city an “epicenter” of aerospace engineering by attracting top tech clients.
Factors like affordable utilities, no sales tax, and low property taxes were appealing to Janicki Industries. John Janicki, company president, noted that Montana’s business-friendly atmosphere could attract more companies from states like Washington. Gov. Gianforte highlighted efforts to lower taxes and reduce regulations, with a focus on improving workforce readiness through education initiatives.
