Buckeye School Board President Resigns Amid Parental Recall Efforts

Leadership changes are underway at Liberty Elementary School District in Buckeye following intense community pressure. On Friday, the head of the district’s governing board, Bryan Parks, stepped down amid growing discontent among parents and educators.

This development follows a recent initiative by district parents to launch a petition aimed at recalling Parks and Vice President Kris Kenyon.

In his resignation letter shared with KJZZ, Parks cited “the invasion of my personal privacy, including relentless attacks and threats against myself, family and my business ventures” as reasons for his departure.

However, a participant in the petition effort denied claims of threats against Parks, attributing his resignation to the swift accumulation of 40% of the signatures needed for a recall within just a week.

Concerns have been raised by community members about a perceived lack of support for educators from district leaders. This sentiment has reportedly led to over 20 teachers and several other staff resigning in the past year. Parents have expressed frustration, claiming their concerns were consistently ignored by Parks and Kenyon.

The campaign to recall Vice President Kenyon is still ongoing.
