ERMCO to Open New Transformer Manufacturing Facility in Arizona
In response to increasing electricity demands nationwide, ERMCO has announced plans for a new manufacturing plant in Arizona dedicated to the production of distribution transformers. This expansion aims to address the current shortage of these essential components in the power grid.
Arizona was chosen strategically for its climate resilience and the availability of a skilled workforce. Tim Mills, CEO of ERMCO, emphasized the importance of distribution transformers, noting their role in converting high-voltage electricity to a lower voltage suitable for use in homes and businesses.
“We service the entire United States and Arizona is a great strategic location for us because our factories are all located out East and we recognize that our customer base is totally dispersed across the entire United States,” said Mills. “So this is going to put us a lot closer to many key accounts including the major utilities in the state of Arizona.”
The new facility is expected to create 500 jobs in the West Valley area, enhancing both the local economy and the stability of the power grid. This move aligns with the growing technological advancements in Arizona, particularly in semiconductor manufacturing.
Mills also mentioned that ERMCO intends to support power needs for major semiconductor and data center companies. “The product we see being built in the Waddell facility very well could be used directly by those manufacturing firms as they’re building places to build semiconductors,” Mills stated.
