Tragic Explosion Claims Lives in Hermosillo Store

In a devastating incident, an explosion in a downtown Hermosillo store led to the deaths of at least 23 people on Saturday. Among the deceased are several children, with six individuals continuing to receive hospital care as of early Sunday morning, according to state authorities.

The Sonora prosecutors’ office is currently investigating the explosion’s cause, with early assessments considering a potential link to a transformer situated within the store located in Hermosillo’s bustling central area.

Governor Alfonso Durazo of Sonora addressed the public through a social media video, assuring that the state government is extending comprehensive support, including medical, psychological, and social services to those affected and their families. “No one will face this pain alone,” Durazo emphasized.

While the state prosecutor reported on Saturday night that there is no indication of intentional wrongdoing behind the explosion, efforts to identify victims and notify their families continued late into the night.
