Elementary School Staff Member Arrested in Child Pornography Investigation
An alarming incident has surfaced in Phoenix, where a member of an elementary school staff has come under federal investigation. The FBI has taken Manuel Pantoja into custody, charging him with the possession and receipt of child pornography.
Manuel Pantoja, who has been part of the Washington Elementary School District since 2023, served as an instructional assistant within the Special Needs Preschool Program and the After-School Academy Program. In response to the allegations, the district has placed him on administrative leave and plans to propose his termination at the upcoming school board meeting.
Pantoja was employed at Desert View Elementary School, yet there is currently no evidence to suggest that any students from the school were involved in this case.
In a communication addressed to families, Principal John Mospan emphasized the school’s cooperation with law enforcement. He stated, “We are fully cooperating with law enforcement as their investigation continues. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. All WESD employees, including Mr. Pantoja, are required to complete a comprehensive background and fingerprint check prior to working with students.”
The Washington Elementary School District has reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for both students and staff, underscoring its rigorous background check protocols for all employees.
