FBI’s Top 10 Fugitive Captured in Mexico After Nearly a Decade
A fugitive, long sought by the FBI, has been apprehended in Mexico, marking a significant breakthrough in a murder case dating back to 2016. Alejandro Rosales Castillo, who was on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted list, has been detained, bringing renewed attention to the chilling crime that unfolded in North Carolina.
Castillo is accused of murdering a 23-year-old woman in North Carolina. Authorities reported that he fled across the border into Mexico from Nogales, Arizona, just one day before the victim’s body was discovered. This movement, nearly a decade ago, had placed him on the FBI’s radar for an extended period.
Following his capture in the northeastern Mexican state of Hidalgo, Castillo is currently held in Mexico City as extradition processes move forward. The FBI’s statement highlighted the concerted effort by its Law Enforcement Attaché Office in Mexico City, which worked closely with Interpol and Mexico’s security and citizen protection agency to secure the arrest of Castillo.
