Flagstaff Shooting Incident Leads to Multiple Charges and a Tragic Helicopter Crash
A tense confrontation unfolded in Flagstaff earlier this week, culminating in serious charges against a local man and a tragic helicopter crash. The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect involved in the shootout with police as Terrell Storey, a 50-year-old resident of the area.
Storey faces an array of charges, including two counts of first-degree homicide and 10 counts of aggravated assault on first responders. Additionally, he is charged with multiple burglary offenses. While specific details regarding the murder charges remain undisclosed, Arizona law stipulates that an individual can face murder charges if they cause a death while committing other crimes.
The incident took a devastating turn when an Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter, aiding the Flagstaff police, crashed. This accident resulted in the deaths of pilot Robert Skankey and trooper-paramedic Hunter Bennett.
Storey sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is currently receiving medical treatment at Flagstaff Medical Center. Authorities have set his bond at $5 million.
The confrontation began after police responded to a domestic violence call, leading to the violent exchange of gunfire. During a press conference held on Thursday morning, Flagstaff Police Chief Sean Connolly referred to Storey as a “career criminal.”
