Tragic Incident at Grand Canyon: Idaho Man Dies on Colorado River
An unfortunate accident claimed the life of an Idaho man during a private expedition on the Colorado River. The incident occurred within the scenic yet perilous expanse of the Grand Canyon National Park.
Aaron Benjamin, a 30-year-old resident of Post Falls, Idaho, encountered trouble on the morning of February 19th. He fell into the river at the onset of Hance Rapid, located at mile 77 along the Colorado River.
Members of Benjamin’s group managed to retrieve him from the water, but he was unresponsive. They immediately initiated CPR in an attempt to revive him.
An emergency signal was dispatched to park authorities at approximately 11:15 a.m. In response, park rangers promptly arrived at the scene via helicopter to provide assistance. Tragically, despite exhaustive resuscitation efforts, Benjamin could not be revived and was declared dead.
The National Park Service, in collaboration with the Coconino County Medical Examiner, is conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the details surrounding this tragic event.
