AI Infrastructure Coalition Advocates for New Data Center in Chandler
The city of Chandler could soon be home to a new data center, a development that is drawing significant attention. Former U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema recently addressed the Chandler city council to advocate for this project, highlighting its potential impact on both national security and the local economy.
Sinema, who serves as co-chair of the advisory board for the AI Infrastructure Coalition, emphasized the importance of the data center. “We see this as a national security imperative as well as a domestic economic imperative,” she stated during the meeting.
During her address, Sinema mentioned that the coalition is collaborating closely with the Trump Administration on artificial intelligence initiatives. She expressed optimism that Chandler residents would welcome the development in the Price Corridor, suggesting that it represents more than just an infrastructure project.
“I expect that we’ll see them continue that by embracing the new development of AI, not just these AI centers, these AI energy hubs, but the companies that come with them,” Sinema added.
Meanwhile, the reaction to data center projects in other parts of Arizona has been mixed. In Tucson, for instance, residents successfully urged their city council to reject the Project Blue data center proposal.
The Chandler city council is slated to make a decision on the Active Infrastructure project in their upcoming December meeting, a vote that will likely be watched closely by both supporters and detractors of the initiative.
