Residents Evacuated Due to Intense House Fire in Lakeside
An early morning fire in Lakeside prompted swift evacuations as safety measures were put into place to prevent further danger. Residents close to the blaze were instructed by the Navajo County Emergency Management and Preparedness to relocate to the Blue Ridge High School Gymnasium shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday.
Efforts to manage and contain the fire were immediately launched, with the Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District collaborating closely with the Forest Service. Their prompt response was aimed at ensuring the fire did not expand beyond its initial reach.
By 9:30 a.m., reports confirmed that while the fire had been brought under control, its intensity remained a concern. Officials indicated that evacuation orders would persist until aerial firefighting efforts could commence, with helicopters poised to drop water to douse the remaining hot spots.
