Scottsdale Mayor’s Chief of Staff Suspended Amid Controversy

In a surprising development, the chief of staff for Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky has been suspended and is currently under investigation for alleged breaches of city protocol. This action has intensified existing tensions among city officials.

R. Lamar Whitmer, who began his role in October 2025, is at the center of this unfolding situation. His attorney, Dennis Wilenchik, has expressed frustration over the lack of clarity regarding the suspension. “I don’t know how they think they can treat people that way, particularly officials that are high up in the administration of the city and act so brazenly without giving any reasons for any of it,” Wilenchik stated.

Whitmer’s suspension has taken an unexpected turn as he was escorted out of city hall by police and is reportedly under restrictions that prevent him from leaving his home without authorization. Wilenchik described these actions as “incredible” and “very bizarre,” questioning the fairness of the process.

Mayor Lisa Borowsky has also criticized the decision, stating in a communication to KJZZ that she was not informed about the reasons behind Whitmer’s removal, further complicating the situation.
