The Arizona State University Sun Devils are set to make a triumphant return to the football field this Saturday night, marking a historic moment as the home opener is sold out for the first time since 1998.

In a statement released Friday, Arizona State University highlighted the excitement surrounding what many fans consider the most eagerly awaited season in over ten years.

Celebrating their debut year in the Big 12 conference, ASU’s athletic department has already made significant achievements, securing the Commissioner’s Cup and clinching four conference championships in sports including football, volleyball, and both men’s and women’s swimming.

Kenny Dillingham, the head football coach, received accolades as the Big 12 Coach of the Year.

As the reigning Big 12 Champions, the Sun Devils enter the season ranked 11th nationally. They will face off against the Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks at Mountain America Stadium with a kickoff time of 7 p.m.

Adding to the cause for celebration, economists from the W.P. Carey School of Business have reported a substantial economic impact. The football program contributed over $55 million to Maricopa County’s GDP in 2024, with nearly 278,000 fans attending the six home games last season.
