Arizona’s Charitable Standing Compared to Neighboring States
In a recent analysis of charitable behaviors across the United States, Arizona was ranked among the least generous states. The study, conducted by WalletHub, considered both monetary donations and volunteer efforts to determine generosity.
Wyoming emerged as the leader in this study, with residents dedicating nearly 29 hours annually to volunteer work, ranking fifth nationwide in this category. Additionally, Wyomingites contribute nearly 4% of their income to charitable causes, the highest percentage recorded in the country.
Utah followed closely, securing the second position overall. Here, individuals engage in approximately 46 hours of volunteer service per person each year, the highest rate noted in the United States.
Maryland also stood out in the study, with 16% of its population making financial donations to charity, placing it third in this metric across the nation.
Arizona, in contrast, was placed 43rd in the overall ranking. While the state performed poorly in charitable giving, ranking 49th, it showed a better performance in volunteering and service, coming in at 31st place.
