Cyberattack Targets Stryker’s Global Network Operations
A cyberattack has disrupted the global operations of Stryker, a leading U.S. medical equipment manufacturer headquartered in Portage, Michigan. The company confirmed the incident on Wednesday, stating that there is no evidence suggesting the involvement of ransomware or malware. “We have no indication of ransomware or malware and believe the incident is contained. Our teams are working rapidly to understand the impact of the attack on our systems,” Stryker announced on its website.
Notably, the logo of Handala, a hacking group with ties to Iran, was displayed on several company login pages, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. This development has raised concerns given Stryker’s significant role in the medical industry, where it produces a wide range of products from artificial joints to hospital beds. The company, which employs around 56,000 people globally, reported revenues exceeding $25 billion in 2025.
The attack primarily affected Stryker’s Microsoft programs, and the company has yet to respond to further inquiries about the situation. Alexander Leslie, a senior adviser at Recorded Future, a global threat intelligence firm, noted the significance of this incident. He emphasized the increased risk associated with targeting a high-profile U.S. healthcare manufacturer, stating, “Attacking a high-profile U.S. health care manufacturer is exactly the kind of pressure point that creates outsized strategic and political ripple effects,” in a conversation with The Associated Press.
