Their stories highlight unforeseen career shifts and the diverse backgrounds contributing to U-M’s success.

Kyle Kipke
Originating from Onsted, Michigan, Kipke transitioned from his sign business to U-M’s Athletic Department, thanks to a recommendation from childhood friend Chris Onsted. Initially hired for part-time grounds crew work, Kipke eventually secured a full-time position following the stadium’s renovation in 2010. As facility manager, he ensures the stadium’s maintenance and operations run smoothly.
Kipke’s dedication earned him a national championship ring, a testament to his contributions during the 2023 season. His connection to Michigan football extends back through family ties, as his great-uncle, Harry Kipke, was a celebrated player and coach. Kipke often receives memorabilia from fans, appreciating the recognition of his efforts in stadium management.
Morgan Petriko
Petriko, from Chicago, navigated a diverse career path before joining U-M. With initial aspirations in athletic training, she shifted to sports management, gaining experience in minor league sports and at Purdue University. Her role at Walt Disney World involved launching a major equestrian facility, further broadening her expertise.
After serving in various roles at Central Michigan University and the Chicago Blackhawks, she became Michigan Stadium’s associate facility manager. Petriko is one of the few women in a Power 5 school facilities role and is committed to paving the way for more women in sports management. She values the inclusive environment at U-M and the opportunity to contribute to its storied athletic program.
