High Noon Recalls Vodka Seltzers Mislabeled as Energy Drinks

High Noon recalls 12-packs due to mislabeled cans, containing vodka seltzer instead of Celsius energy drinks.
High Noon is recalling some vodka seltzers mislabeled as Celsius energy drinks

In a surprising twist for energy drink enthusiasts, some might find themselves sipping on more than they bargained for due to a packaging mix-up involving High Noon vodka seltzers and Celsius energy drinks.

High Noon has issued a recall on certain 12-packs of its vodka seltzers after discovering that some cans were incorrectly labeled as Celsius energy drinks. This recall comes after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that a number of these mislabeled packs were distributed to stores in several states, including Florida, New York, and Ohio, between July 21 and July 23.

The FDA stated, “Some of these packs contain cans that are filled with High Noon vodka seltzer alcohol and are mislabeled as CELSIUS® ASTRO VIBE™ Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition with a silver top.”

Consequently, consumers seeking a caffeine boost might unknowingly be consuming an alcoholic beverage instead of the anticipated energy drink. The mix-up stems from a shared third-party packaging supplier between the two distinct beverage brands.

Understanding the Mix-Up

The confusion arose when the packaging supplier mistakenly sent empty cans intended for Celsius to High Noon’s production plant. These cans were then filled with vodka seltzer and packaged as part of High Noon’s beach variety packs.

Celsius has initiated a collaborative investigation with both the can supplier and Gallo, High Noon’s parent company. Krista Fontana, a spokesperson for Gallo, told NPR, “We are working with the FDA, retailers and distributors to proactively manage the recall to ensure the safety and well-being of our consumers.”

Fortunately, the FDA reports no illnesses or adverse reactions from the mix-up.

Consumer Guidance

The recall affects specific production lots marked on the top of the High Noon boxes: L CCC 17JL25 14:00 to L CCC 17JL25 23:59, and L CCC 18JL25 00:00 to L CCC 18JL25 03:00. Consumers should also inspect all Celsius Astro Vibe cans in the Sparkling Blue Razz flavor for a silver lid or specific lot codes, as these indicate recalled products.

Celsius advises looking for lot codes L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to L CCB 02JL25 3:11 on the can bottoms, noting that unaffected products have black lids.

The FDA cautions against consuming any affected beverages due to the risk of “unintentional alcohol ingestion.” Customers can reach out to High Noon Consumer Relations at consumerrelations@highnoonvodka.com for further instructions or to request refunds.
