As Michigan gears up for the 2026 midterm elections, voters have more to look forward to than just casting their ballots. A unique initiative allows them to take home a piece of art history—a special “I Voted” sticker, designed by students from across the state.

On November 3, polling stations throughout Michigan will open for the 2026 midterm election. Alongside fulfilling their civic duty, voters will have the chance to receive a customized “I Voted” sticker, a tradition that began in 2024 thanks to Michigan’s Collegiate Student Advisory Task Force. This initiative gained widespread attention when Jane Hynous, then 12 years old, created a standout sticker featuring a werewolf in front of the American flag.

This year’s contest saw a significant increase in participation, attracting four times more submissions than the inaugural event. Voters participated in an online poll to determine the winners, selecting from entries across three categories: Elementary/Middle School, High School, and General contestants.

The winning sticker designs this year reflect diverse artistic styles and themes that celebrate aspects of Michigan’s culture and daily life, such as the Great Lakes, superman ice cream, road construction, and the SS Edmund Fitzgerald.

How to Obtain a Michigan ‘I Voted’ Sticker

The “I Voted” stickers are distributed by local election clerks and can be picked up at polling places. To ensure you receive your favorite design, it’s best to vote in person at your local precinct. Note that absentee voters are not eligible to receive the student-created “I Voted!” stickers.
