A comprehensive New Faculty Orientation at the University of Michigan is set for August 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., located on the Michigan League’s second floor. This initiative is orchestrated by the Office of the Provost alongside the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching, aiming to equip new faculty members with essential insights for their inaugural year.

Participants will be greeted by President Domenico Grasso and Provost Laurie McCauley before engaging with the CRLT Players in a performance. The orientation includes interactive sessions for faculty to exchange experiences and develop effective teaching strategies.

The day’s agenda also features a luncheon panel with speakers such as McCauley, Arthur Lupia, vice president for research and innovation, and Derek Peterson, professor of history and Afroamerican and African studies, and chair of the Faculty Senate. The event will wrap up with an Information Fair staffed by representatives from crucial university offices.
