The University of Michigan’s Executive Director of University Audits, Jeff Moelich, will retire on June 30. Moelich, who has been a pivotal figure in the department for nearly 12 years, has a rich background in both the private sector and academia. His career includes senior roles at Eaton Corporation, General Motors, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, and he has also served as the Goodyear Executive Professor at Kent State University.

Moelich holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Detroit and an MBA from U-M, and is a Certified Public Accountant. President Domenico Grasso praised Moelich’s leadership, saying, “Earlier this year, Jeff shared his plans to retire. Jeff has been an outstanding leader of Audit Services for over a decade.” His professional skills and positive attitude have left a lasting impact on the university.
Hilaire Nachtrab, currently the internal audit associate director, will take over as interim executive director. Nachtrab brings 12 years of auditing experience at U-M and over two decades of experience in private and agency auditing roles. The university will partner with Opus Search Partners to launch a national search for a new Audit Services leader soon.
Audit Services, an independent unit at U-M, works with various departments to manage risks and enhance processes.
