A prominent Canadian manufacturer is strengthening its foothold in the United States with a significant investment in North Carolina. Cardon Rehabilitation & Medical Equipment USA, LLC, known for its customizable treatment tables and exercise equipment, plans to bring 20 new jobs to Lenoir County through a $4 million investment in its new headquarters and manufacturing facility located in Kinston.

“North Carolina continues to be a top choice for companies that value innovation, talent, and opportunity,” stated Governor Josh Stein. “Cardon’s investment in Lenoir County is a win for our state’s manufacturing sector and a testament to the strengths of our communities and workforce.”

Cardon Rehabilitation & Medical Equipment has been a notable player in the healthcare sector, delivering quality therapy tables for clinical and rehabilitation purposes. With a 60,000-square-foot facility in Kinston, the company is set to bolster its U.S. customer support while marking a significant milestone—its 50th anniversary in the industry. Mardig Sevadijian, CEO of Cardon Rehabilitation & Medical Equipment USA, LLC, expressed his enthusiasm, “To commemorate this important moment, we are excited to announce the establishment of our new U.S. Headquarters in North Carolina. Our vision is to scale up the production of our healthcare equipment, build a long-term home for our employees, and create a workplace culture where people feel safe, valued, and empowered to contribute to the continued success of our company.”

N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley echoed the positive outlook, highlighting North Carolina’s ability to attract innovative companies like Cardon. “With a strong talent pipeline, modern infrastructure, and a commitment to business success, we’re proud to support this expansion in Lenoir County,” he remarked.

The new positions will offer an average annual salary of $48,965, which aligns closely with the county’s existing average wage of $48,683. This development could potentially introduce an annual payroll impact exceeding $979,000 for the Lenoir County region.

To support Cardon’s expansion, a performance-based grant of $60,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will be utilized. The OneNC Fund aids local governments in drawing economic investments and job creation by requiring companies to meet specific job and capital investment criteria before receiving any funds. Local governments are also required to match the grant contributions.

N.C. Senator Bob Brinson lauded the project, noting, “Cardon’s decision to invest in Lenoir County is a strong endorsement of our region’s skilled workforce and business-ready infrastructure. North Carolina continues to lead the Southeast in advanced manufacturing, and this project reflects the kind of smart, sustainable growth we’re proud to support.”

In agreement, N.C. Representative Chris Humphrey welcomed the development, “We welcome Cardon Rehabilitation & Medical Equipment to Kinston and look forward to the opportunities this investment will bring. These new jobs are signs of Lenoir County’s continued progress and potential.”

This initiative is supported by several partners, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Lenoir Community College, North Carolina’s Southeast, North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region, Electricities, Lenoir County, the Lenoir County Development Alliance, and the City of Kinston.
