Sedona Mayor Steps Down Amid Controversy
In a significant development for the city of Sedona, Mayor Scott Jablow has announced his resignation. This decision follows a public censure by the Sedona City Council, which accused him of overstepping his duties and pushing the implementation of an automatic license plate camera program without proper discourse.
Last week, the council took a formal vote to censure Jablow, urging him to vacate his position. The mayor was alleged to have contravened council rules and exerted undue pressure on city staff regarding the controversial camera initiative, which the city terminated earlier this month.
Initially, Mayor Jablow resisted calls to resign, suggesting that any decision to remove him should come through a recall election organized by voters. However, his stance shifted following the council’s censure.
According to Red Rock News, Vice Mayor Holli Ploog is set to assume the responsibilities of acting mayor. The city council plans to appoint an interim mayor in the coming month to fill the vacancy.
