Phoenix Pride Faces Financial Struggles Amid Bankruptcy Filing

As Pride Month unfolds, the organization known for orchestrating the largest LGBTQ+ cultural event in Arizona is confronting a financial crisis, having recently filed for bankruptcy. The roots of Phoenix Pride trace back to a historic 1981 march advocating for gay rights through the heart of downtown Phoenix, culminating at the state Capitol.

According to court documents, the nonprofit entity behind Phoenix Pride is currently grappling with severe financial constraints, possessing assets estimated between $0 and $50,000, while facing debts amounting to approximately $430,000. A significant portion of this debt arises from a breach of contract lawsuit initiated by Pride Group LLC. The lawsuit claims that Phoenix Pride has failed to compensate for event management services rendered during the Phoenix Pride Festival held last October.
