Water Service Interruption Planned at Grand Canyon National Park

The Grand Canyon National Park is set to experience a temporary disruption in water services within the inner canyon, as essential maintenance work is scheduled on the Transcanyon Waterline and Havasupai Gardens pumphouse. This critical update affects several popular areas and will require visitors to plan accordingly.

The maintenance, which involves installing new piping along the River Trail and upgrading the pumphouse, is slated to begin tomorrow and continue until June 11. During this period, key sites including Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel Campground, Cottonwood Campground, Boat Beach, and the Manzanita Rest Area and Day Use Area will not have access to drinking water.

However, visitors will still find water available at the Havasupai Gardens, as well as the 1.5-Mile and 3-Mile resthouses. Park rangers are advising hikers venturing into the inner canyon to carry sufficient water and remain informed by checking the park’s online resources for any updates.

While the anticipated completion date for the work is before June 11, the timeline allows for possible extensions. After construction concludes, the system must undergo a process of flushing, testing, and repressurization before regular water service can recommence.

For more details, visitors can refer to the park’s Key Hiking Message webpage.
