Controversial Ties in Michigan’s 10th District Race
Two Republican candidates for Michigan’s 10th District seat, Mike Bouchard Jr. and Robert Lulgjuraj, are under scrutiny due to their connections with Peter Lucido, a prosecutor embroiled in multiple harassment controversies.
Bouchard Jr. has received financial backing from Lucido, while Lulgjuraj previously worked under him in the Macomb County prosecutor’s office. These associations have persisted even after numerous allegations of sexual harassment were made against Lucido.
Lucido, while serving in the Michigan Senate in 2020, faced severe backlash after journalist Allison Donahue inquired about his participation in a Facebook group known for violent rhetoric against Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Lucido’s response involved a crude comment about a group of male students, which Donahue described as leaving her “objectified and humiliated.” (source)
Shortly afterward, Democratic State Senator Mallory McMorrow filed a complaint against Lucido, alleging inappropriate physical contact and comments about her election success being linked to her appearance. McMorrow described the encounter as feeling like “a piece of meat.” (source)
Lobbyist Melissa Osborn recounted a similar incident to Michigan Advance, where Lucido reportedly made comments about her appearance while touching her inappropriately. (source) A Senate investigation validated these claims, leading to Lucido’s removal from a key committee role in March 2020.
In 2021, County Judge Lisa McCormick accused Lucido of inappropriate behavior during a 2019 meeting. (source)
Despite these allegations, Lucido was elected as Macomb County prosecutor in November 2020. In 2022, the county launched an investigation into new harassment claims, revealing that Lucido frequently made derogatory remarks about women and complained about Black constituents, whom he referred to as “those people.” (source)
Lucido secured reelection in 2024, with Lulgjuraj publicly endorsing his campaign and subsequently being appointed as an assistant prosecutor. (source)
In July 2025, Lucido was involved in establishing a super PAC to support Bouchard. By March, Lucido had officially endorsed Bouchard’s candidacy. Bouchard expressed gratitude for the support, stating on X, “Pete has spent his career protecting families across Macomb County. Together, we’ll keep fighting to make Michigan’s 10th District the best place to live, work, and raise a family, and we’ll always put Michigan first.”
The Republican primary, featuring Bouchard and Lulgjuraj, is scheduled for August 4. On the Democratic side, former Pontiac Mayor Tim Greimel and prosecutor Christina Hines are also in the race. (source)
