Waymo’s Ojai Vehicle Debuts in Major U.S. Cities

Waymo has launched its innovative Ojai vehicle for riders in metro Phoenix, extending the service to Los Angeles and San Francisco as well. This expansion aims to facilitate the company’s ambition to introduce its fully-autonomous vehicles across numerous new urban areas.

The Ojai vehicle promises a distinct passenger experience, featuring spacious cabins with ample legroom, flat floors, and large LED screens. Additionally, elevator-type doors enhance the accessibility of the vehicle.

Equipped with Google Gemini AI, Ojai allows passengers to manage the air conditioning and music, change travel routes, or even “explore the neighborhood” using voice commands.

Manufactured by Zeekr, a Chinese company, the CM1e model is designed specifically for autonomous applications and operates fully on electric power.

The vehicle incorporates Waymo’s sixth-generation driver technology, which optimizes production processes and boosts the output capacity of Waymo’s Mesa factory to tens of thousands of units annually.

Currently, matching passengers with an Ojai depends on the availability of the vehicle in the vicinity, but future plans include allowing riders to choose their preferred vehicle type.
