Arizona Bill Aims to Halt Climate Manipulation Efforts

In an unexpected legislative move, a new Arizona bill seeks to classify climate modification attempts as a felony. The bill, introduced by Sen. John Kavanagh (R-Fountain Hills), forbids any actions intended to change the temperature, climate, weather, or sunlight intensity.

This legislative effort is not unprecedented among Republican lawmakers who have previously attempted to restrict geoengineering practices. Sen. Kavanagh’s proposal follows a summer cloud seeding experiment in Pinal County, which caused some Republican discontent. Despite this, Kavanagh attributes his motivation for introducing the bill to concerns from his constituents regarding chemtrails.

While Kavanagh admits uncertainty about the existence of chemtrails, he emphasizes the importance of having preventive measures in place. Chemtrails are central to a conspiracy theory suggesting the government disperses chemicals in the atmosphere, potentially for mind control or weather manipulation. Adherents to this theory often believe these chemicals are visible in the contrails left by aircraft, formed by engine exhaust mixing with cold air.

Sen. Kavanagh stated, “If somebody’s doing it, it’ll stop them, and if somebody has a good reason to do that, you know, then I think we should pass a bill to permit a particular dispersal of chemicals.”

Cloud seeding, a technique involving the introduction of particles like salts to clouds with the intent to increase rainfall, has been a focal point of controversy. Under the proposed legislation, any violation could result in fines as high as $100,000.

Importantly, Kavanagh clarified that the bill does not target those burning greenhouse gases or firefighters employing chemicals in fire suppression efforts.
