Arizona House Approves Stricter Marijuana Advertising Regulations

In a move garnering bipartisan support, the Arizona House has approved a bill aimed at tightening restrictions on cannabis advertising. This legislative action seeks to refine how marijuana products are marketed across various platforms.

Currently, cannabis can be advertised on billboards, provided the seller is clearly identified. The new legislation, however, introduces additional constraints, particularly focusing on safeguarding younger audiences. It explicitly prohibits advertisements targeting individuals under 21, limits online and social media promotions, and bans such ads in public transit areas including airports.

Republican Representative Matt Gress expressed his support for the measure, emphasizing the importance of regulation in this sector. “This is high time we certainly regulate the advertisements on Marijuana and protect our kids and I vote Aye,” Gress commented.

Following its passage in the House, the bill now advances to the Arizona Senate for further consideration.
