Police Involved in Fatal Shooting During Domestic Incident in Cottonwood

In a tense situation on Sunday evening, an officer from the Cottonwood Police Department fatally shot an armed individual amidst a domestic violence call. This incident unfolded near Paradise Drive and Fir Street, where officers were in the process of evacuating people from a residence.

The circumstances leading to the officer’s decision to open fire remain undisclosed, but the individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene. According to the Cottonwood Police Department, a shotgun was discovered near the deceased.

Neither the identity of the deceased nor the officers involved has been released to the public.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Major Incident Division is currently investigating the matter. Meanwhile, the officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, a standard procedure in such scenarios involving police shootings.
