Arizona Legal Case: Former State Worker Faces Probation for Jewelry Theft
In a surprising turn of events, a former official from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office has been sentenced to probation following a case of jewelry theft. Vanessa Dailey, previously known as Vanessa Hickman, who held the position of division chief, admitted to charges of theft and trafficking stolen property.
Dailey’s involvement began when a package, mistakenly delivered to her, was found to contain jewelry valued in the tens of thousands of dollars. Despite initially returning the package, it was discovered that a bracelet was missing. This item was later sold online by Dailey for $750.
During the course of the criminal investigation, Dailey was placed on leave and subsequently departed from her role at the Attorney General’s Office. In response to the situation, Richie Taylor, a spokesperson for Attorney General Kris Mayes, noted, “The Attorney General’s Office cooperated with their investigation. Ms. Hickman resigned on Monday.”
Ultimately, Dailey was given a two-year probation sentence, concluding this unusual case within the Arizona legal landscape.
