Decreased Wildfire Activity Near Flagstaff Offers Relief
Fire activity on the Grandview Fire, a 40-acre blaze situated 38 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona, has significantly reduced, according to state fire managers. This development brings some relief to the region near the San Francisco Peaks.
The wildfire, which began around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, continues to consume dead-and-down fuel and tumbleweeds within its confines. The fire’s location in a remote area with limited access poses challenges, but recent changes in the terrain have been favorable.
The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management has reported that the fire’s progression onto flatter land with less dense vegetation helped decrease the intensity of the flames. Located southwest of SP Crater and west of Highway 89, the fire is not currently threatening any structures or other significant values.
While smoke from the fire is expected to lessen, it remains visible to motorists traveling along highways 89 and 180, prompting caution for drivers in the area.
