Phoenix Engages Community in Climate Action Strategy Updates

Phoenix is taking proactive steps in its environmental strategy by revising its climate action plan, inviting residents to participate in community workshops.

The city is organizing various workshops available both online and in-person until mid-February, with Spanish interpretation on offer. These sessions aim to develop strategies for water conservation, energy cost reduction, promoting healthy communities, and mitigating heat-related health risks.

The primary purpose of Phoenix’s climate action plan introduced in 2021 is to outline a sustainable growth model that fosters a robust, equitable, and resilient urban environment.

Among the ambitious objectives slated for achievement by 2050 are the doubling of the existing tree and shade canopy, securing a clean and reliable water supply for the next century, and transitioning all public transportation to net-zero greenhouse gas energy sources, which entails balancing emissions with removal.
