Activists Gather at Lansing State Capitol to Protest Trump Policies
In a vibrant display of activism, hundreds of individuals from across Michigan rallied at the state Capitol in Lansing on Wednesday. Their mission: to voice opposition against various policies enacted by President Donald Trump.
Michiganders representing diverse causes congregated to chant and brandish signs, expressing discontent over Trump’s stances on issues like immigration and LGBTQ rights.
Jill Murphy, an organizer of the event, emphasized that despite it being months since Trump’s inauguration, their movement is timely and crucial. Murphy stated, “Our goal here in Michigan is to activate and organize as many folks, invest in their leadership, grow their leadership and become community leaders themselves and be activists and organizers in their community so we can spread this like wildfire.”
The demonstration saw numerous participants holding signs urging progressives to cast their votes in the 2026 state and federal elections.
This rally forms part of a broader digital initiative, aiming to coordinate similar gatherings at state capitols across all 50 states on the same day.
In the prior November election, Trump secured a victory in Michigan by a margin of approximately 80,000 votes against Democratic nominee and then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
