U-M Reappoints Martino Harmon as VP for Student Life
Martino Harmon has been reappointed as the vice president for student life at the University of Michigan, extending his tenure through June 30, 2030. His leadership has been praised for enhancing the student experience with a focus on sustainability and wellness.
President Santa J. Ono remarked, “For the past several years, we’ve been so fortunate to have the outstanding leadership of Martino Harmon, who has led U-M’s Division of Student Life through several efforts to improve and enrich the student experience while emphasizing sustainability and student wellness,” during the Dec. 5 Board of Regents meeting.
Since joining U-M in July 2020, Harmon has championed student success through initiatives like the Well-being Collective, adoption of the Okanagan Charter, and enhanced access to mental health resources. His efforts have also advanced Student Life Sustainability in collaboration with student organizations, supporting the university’s carbon neutrality goals.
Under his guidance, three major capital projects are underway: the Hadley Family Recreation and Well-Being Center, the Central Campus Residential Development, and the Ginsberg Center for Community Service and Learning.
Harmon has expanded parent and family engagement with virtual workshops, newsletters, and a new communications portal. “Michigan is dedicated to delivering the best of the best,” Harmon stated, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to continue enhancing student services.
