University of Michigan Parking Permit Rates to Rise by 4% in 2026

The University of Michigan will increase parking permit rates by 4% for fiscal year 2026, supporting transport systems.

The University of Michigan is set to increase parking permit rates by 4% for all annual categories in fiscal year 2026. This adjustment supports the campus parking system’s operations and maintenance, as well as alternative transportation options like the MRide and vanpool programs. These changes will affect faculty, staff, and students alike.

Purchasing a Permit

Starting May 1, 2025, fiscal year 2026 parking permits, valid from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, will be available for online purchase. As a new initiative, all permits will be virtual, utilizing License Plate Recognition technology. More details on this transition can be found here.

* Faculty with a 0% appointment, temporary staff, affiliates, and other non-University staff must cover the full permit cost.

Availability is limited and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis with a waitlist if sold out.
