La Casita, located in Flathead Valley’s culinary scene, was recommended by locals when seeking the best Mexican food in Montana. This family-owned restaurant, open Tuesday to Saturday for breakfast and lunch, offers a focused menu that prioritizes quality over quantity. Leading the culinary vision is Elva Camarillo, who developed her passion for Mexican food in Baja California. Alongside her husband Carlos, they ventured to Montana over a decade ago, opening La Casita in a food trailer inspired by a tiny home. Their journey included a seasonal spot in the Crown of the Continent Discovery Center before settling at their current Kalispell location at 1011 W. Idaho St.
In 2018, Elva and Carlos’ daughter, Eunice, with her husband, Abraham Hernandez, took over primary operations, continuing the legacy with three generations involved. The restaurant’s handmade flour tortillas, a standout feature, are made fresh daily, offering a perfect wrap for their delicious tacos and burritos.
The tacos come with choices such as carne asada and carnitas, topped with recommended ingredients like queso fresco.
