The Bobcat Rodeo Team from Montana State University is set to join the “Pass in Review” parade following the upcoming presidential inauguration, as per a recent announcement by MSU. Scheduled for 1 p.m. Mountain time on January 20, the inaugural parade takes place after the official ceremony, serving as a symbolic military review. It proceeds from the U.S. Capitol along Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.

Originating with George Washington’s first inauguration in 1789, this tradition has deep roots. Nominated by Montana U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke in December, the Bobcat Rodeo Team will feature 36 student-athletes riding horses provided by Washington, D.C. partners. “I think it’s huge. To my knowledge, there has never been a college rodeo team in an inaugural parade,” states Kyle Whitaker, MSU rodeo head coach. “It sets us apart, and it shows how embraced we are, not just at the university, but through the whole state.”

Donor contributions will fully cover travel expenses for the team’s participation in the inauguration. Post-event, MSU will launch its spring rodeo season from April 10-13 at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, featuring the annual Bobcat spring rodeo. Boasting a legacy of hosting the College National Finals Rodeo for nearly three decades, MSU’s rodeo teams have achieved nine national team titles, 35 individual national championships, and numerous Big Sky Regional crowns.

Further details can be accessed on the website of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.
