Two people, a student and a teacher, are recovering after a stabbing at Billings Senior High School. The school, which accommodates around 1,600 students, went into lockdown shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. According to school district officials, a teacher was attacked with a knife by a student. Billings Police reported that both victims were transported to a local hospital.
Lt. Samantha Puckett stated on Wednesday that while the investigation remains active, all involved individuals have been accounted for, and there is no public threat. The incident took place on the third floor of the school after classes had ended. In response, all school activities and classes were canceled for Tuesday night and Wednesday, although finals will proceed on Thursday.
The scheduled girls and boys wrestling meet and an orchestra concert on Tuesday were also canceled. Crisis counselors will be available for students and staff when school resumes. Billings Public Schools confirmed that other schools and activities will continue as planned.
