Arizona Autism Plans Major Workforce Shift Amid State Policy Changes
Arizona Autism, a provider of pediatric therapy and caregiving services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Arizona, has announced a significant restructuring of its workforce. The company plans to lay off nearly 2,800 employees, transitioning them to contract roles in the coming months.
The decision comes as Arizona Autism prepares for potential changes mandated by the state Division of Developmental Disabilities. In response to a law passed earlier this year, the division is tasked with implementing a new assessment tool, a process that is still underway and could impact service delivery for numerous families in Arizona.
In a recent YouTube video, Ryker Martin, co-owner of Arizona Autism, explained that starting in January, caregivers who provide home and community-based services will transition to contract work. This shift is part of the organization’s strategy to adapt to the impending changes.
