Pima County Confirms Measles Case Amid Mohave Outbreak of 200 Cases

Pima County confirms measles patient traveled to Arizona from Mexico

In a recent health update, Pima County has reported its first measles case involving an individual who traveled from Mexico. Upon arrival, the person was promptly hospitalized and kept in isolation at a Tucson medical facility, minimizing the risk of local transmission.

According to health officials, there is no evidence of public exposure to this highly infectious disease in the county.

This incident occurs amidst a significant measles outbreak in Mohave County on the border with Utah, which has surged to 200 cases, marking it as Arizona’s most substantial outbreak in decades.

In Mexico, Sonora, which shares a border with Arizona, recorded 111 measles cases in 2025. However, the state of Chihuahua experienced the most severe outbreak, with 4,481 confirmed cases last year.
