Sen. Ruben Gallego Advocates for Changes to ICE Funding in Response to Recent Actions

After recent initiatives by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minnesota, Senator Ruben Gallego has expressed concerns about current funding allocations to the agency. On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Gallego outlined his stance during a conversation with Jake Tapper.

The Arizona senator emphasized the need for ICE to prioritize targeting criminal activities and enhancing security measures. He remarked, “I know the implications of that, I know the political implications potentially of that. But we cannot keep funding this type of goon squads that are just spreading throughout the whole country just to enforce some weird policy position that Stephen Miller has where he thinks we have to punish blue cities.”

In addition, Gallego showed his approval for an initiative by Senate Democrats aiming to impose restrictions and increased oversight on the Department of Homeland Security. This effort is part of the government funding bill expected to be voted on later this month.
