Blocked-off roads, towed cars in Nancy Guthrie's disappearance case

In a concerning turn of events, law enforcement continues to search for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie. Late Friday night, authorities cordoned off a road near Nancy Guthrie’s residence in Arizona, intensifying the investigation into her disappearance.

Sheriff and FBI vehicles, including forensic units, were observed moving through a roadblock situated about 3.2 kilometers (2 miles) from the Guthrie residence. Concurrently, a Range Rover SUV was tagged and towed from a parking lot of a Culver’s restaurant, located just over 2 miles from the Guthrie home. These actions coincided with the closure of a road north of her residence.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed these activities are linked to the ongoing investigation. However, they have withheld further details at the FBI’s request. As of early Saturday, no additional updates were provided.

Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, was reported missing on February 1. Blood was discovered on the front porch of her Tucson-area home, raising alarm. Additionally, purported ransom notes circulated to media outlets, yet deadlines for payment have come and gone without resolution.

Authorities are particularly concerned about Guthrie’s health due to her reliance on daily medication. She has a pacemaker and has faced high blood pressure and heart issues, as noted in sheriff’s dispatcher audio available on broadcastify.com.

In the relentless pursuit of leads, investigators have scrutinized surveillance footage, processed thousands of tips, and submitted DNA and other materials for lab analysis.

The FBI has reported receiving over 13,000 tips since the disappearance was reported. The sheriff’s department has also fielded at least 18,000 calls regarding the case.

Newly released footage on Tuesday shows an armed individual, masked, at Nancy Guthrie’s doorstep on the night she vanished. These videos, collectively under a minute long, provide the first visual insight into the suspect’s presence outside her Tucson foothills home.

Experts suggest that these videos could reveal a wealth of clues in the ongoing investigation.
