Arizona Faces Record Diesel Prices Amid Global Tensions
Arizona drivers are feeling the pinch at the pump as diesel prices surge to unprecedented levels. According to AAA Arizona, the cost per gallon has reached a historic high of $6.20, surpassing last year’s record of $5.90. This marks a significant increase from the $3.57 per gallon seen at the same time last year.
Patrick De Haan from Gasbuddy provides insights into the situation, noting that global political dynamics are at play. He emphasizes that a ceasefire with Iran won’t necessarily ease the situation if Iran continues to obstruct oil distribution globally. “For now though the president and Iran continue to have some back and forth and the real only improvement to gas prices down the road would be an improvement in the Strait of Hormuz,” De Haan explained.
While the rise in gas prices is decelerating across Arizona, unleaded gas prices tell a different story. In Maricopa County, residents saw prices climb to an average of $4.96 per gallon earlier this week. By contrast, the national average stood at $4.16 as of Thursday, as reported by AAA.
