In a significant move affecting its workforce, Intel has revealed plans to implement layoffs within its data center division. This decision is part of the company’s ongoing effort to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.

While the specific number of job cuts in Arizona has not been disclosed, Intel’s Chandler facility experienced substantial layoffs in 2025, where nearly 800 employees were affected, as documented by Arizona Job Connection.

The timing of this announcement coincides with an upcoming quarterly earnings report scheduled for Thursday, adding to the anticipation surrounding the company’s financial performance.

According to an Intel spokesperson, the restructuring aims to better position the Data Center Group for sustainable growth. The spokesperson stated, “Intel’s Data Center Group is aligning its organization to ensure it has the right roles and skills in place to position the business for long-term success. We are committed to treating all impacted employees with respect and providing resources to support them through this transition.”

Intel’s presence in Arizona is significant, with the company employing 9,600 individuals at the beginning of 2025 and contributing $10.7 billion to the state’s economy.
