U-M’s First Ethics & Compliance Week Offers Sessions for Staff and Faculty

The University of Michigan’s Ethics, Integrity, and Compliance Office will host the first U-M Ethics & Compliance Week from Oct. 19-23. This event will include educational sessions, compliance partner engagement, and information sharing for faculty and staff across U-M’s three campuses and Michigan Medicine. Designed to support ethical decision-making and enhance workplace culture, the week offers both in-person and virtual sessions. Participants can explore conflict navigation and compliance practices throughout the program.

In-person sessions are scheduled for Oct. 20 and 21 in the Pendleton Room at the Michigan Union. The Ethics 101 virtual session will occur on Oct. 22. Session details and registration are available online. Registration is open to faculty and staff from Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Flint campuses, and Michigan Medicine.

Keynote Event: One Michigan. One Culture.

The keynote event, “One Michigan. One Culture: How Behavior Strengthens Our Community,” will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 21 in the Pendleton Room. The discussion will highlight how everyday behaviors and system choices can build trust within the university. Brigid Hart-Molloy, EIC Office’s Director of Education and Outreach, will host the panel featuring:

  • Monica Worline, faculty director at the Center for Positive Organizations, Ross School of Business.
  • Brook Watts, chief quality officer at Michigan Medicine and professor of internal medicine, Medical School.
  • Joe Zichi, Well-being Collective lead.

A light breakfast will be served.

Additional Educational Sessions

Ethics 101: Led by the EIC Office’s Education and Outreach team, this session covers core principles of ethical behavior in the workplace, available both in-person and virtually.

Workplace Investigations: This hands-on workshop for people-leaders focuses on skills for fair and values-aligned workplace investigations.

Conflict Resolution for Leaders: This voluntary training equips leaders with a restorative-informed approach to proactively handle conflict.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to register, attend sessions, and engage in discussions about the importance of ethics, integrity, and compliance in supporting U-M’s mission and community culture.
