Scott Timko, a candidate for the Pennsylvania House in the 12th District, believes his experience in running a small business equips him well for the role, despite facing financial challenges with one of his ventures.
Timko is vying for office in a special election scheduled for August 18. Earlier this year, he emphasized to the Butler Eagle that his primary goals include reducing taxes and minimizing regulations.
“The best thing for the economy is for people to keep as much of their money as possible,” Timko stated.
Alongside his spouse, Timko has owned several eateries in Cranberry Township, notably Vocelli Pizza and J. Gumbo’s Cajun. The couple has also operated GotGumbo LLC, a limited liability company.
Public records from the Butler County Prothonotary reveal that both Timko and his spouse were each hit with a $32,174 tax lien due to debts incurred by GotGumbo LLC. As of July, the state reports the company still owes $42,471 in taxes.
Previously, GotGumbo LLC had been flagged for tax delinquencies. During the period from 2021 to 2024, the company settled $18,877 worth of liens.
Timko has acknowledged owning a small aircraft, which records suggest is registered under GotGumbo LLC. He expressed in February that flying provides a cost-effective alternative to road travel, especially with tolls.
“I have a small plane,” Timko noted. “It’s almost cheaper for me to fly to Harrisburg than it is to drive on the turnpike.”
Brandon Dukes stands as Timko’s opponent from the Democratic Party.
