Bright Angel Creek and the Colorado River witnessed yet another flash flood event on Wednesday, just weeks after a previous flood had devastating effects.
The recent flood follows an earlier incident on August 29, which resulted in significant infrastructure damage and tragically claimed the lives of three hikers.
According to a Facebook post by Grand Canyon National Park, the latest flooding incident has not led to any reported injuries or road damage.
The post notes that National Park Service personnel were able to reach safety before the floodwaters rose, and damage evaluations are currently underway.
Due to the storm, the North Rim was temporarily closed to visitors on Thursday morning as a precautionary measure.
The social media update also confirmed that all river rafting expeditions remain safe and accounted for amid the recent flood activity.
The August flood had previously wreaked havoc on the crucial Transcanyon Waterline, affecting water supply to businesses, residents, and campsites on the South Rim. This week, the remains of a third hiker missing from that event were discovered.
A Facebook post from his wife identified the deceased as Timothy Allen Smith from Star Valley, Wyoming, with his remains found on Monday near Crystal Rapid on the Colorado River, downstream from Phantom Ranch.
