Arizona Sees Slight Dip in Fuel Prices, But Costs Still Above National Average
In a development that may bring some relief to Arizona motorists, the state’s gas prices have experienced a modest decline. This reduction follows the recent election results and the state’s transition to winter fuel blends. Despite this decrease, Arizona’s fuel prices continue to surpass the national average.
The current average price for unleaded gasoline in Arizona is $4.32 per gallon, reflecting a 12-cent drop from the previous week. Meanwhile, the average cost for diesel has reduced by two cents, now standing at $4.35 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy suggests that this downward trend in fuel prices may persist. He attributes this potential continuation to decreased driving in winter months and the conclusion of seasonal maintenance by oil refineries. However, he cautions that political factors remain unpredictable. “After midterm elections, oil prices plummeted,” De Haan noted. “Though Americans have voted and though oil markets believe that there may be some resolution, if that doesn’t happen, gas prices could go right back up.”
Breaking down the data further, drivers in Maricopa County are currently paying an average of $4.31 per gallon. In contrast, Pima County boasts the lowest gas prices in the state, with an average of $4.02 per gallon.
