Arizona’s Enhanced Crime Dashboard: A Closer Look at Its New Features

Arizona State University has made significant strides in providing access to detailed crime data with its violent crime dashboard. Initially launched several months ago, the Arizona Violent Death Reporting System Dashboard has now undergone notable enhancements to offer expanded data and functionality.

The dashboard now allows users to generate and download custom tables for research, facilitating a more tailored analysis of death statistics across various timeframes.

Jordan Batchelor, a research analyst at ASU’s WATTS Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety, highlighted the addition of filters as a key improvement. Batchelor explained, “So if you go to something like demographics or trends or whatnot, there’s going to be a number of drop down menus where the user can select things like race and sex and location.”

Moreover, the updated dashboard includes a dedicated tab for accessing the most recent suicide and homicide data, with information available up to one month prior to a user’s inquiry. Additionally, an interactive map feature has been introduced, specifically highlighting data related to Arizona’s military veterans.
